EXHIBITS
Some of the exhibits and events have included Algonkian fancy baskets and birchbark; Doctors of Dayton; Lotions and Potions; and Crossroads of the Revolution, and now our mosquito projects.

Exhibit opened--2007 (see the booklet on line)
Grandma's Lotions and Potions except for tours by appointment, closed on October 28th; Some of the highlights included, the Middlesex County Cultural and Heritage Commission brought about 60 participants on one of their famous 'trolley tours' to the Slack-Carroll house. A fine time was had by all with Terry Caruso giving information about the herbs and naturalist information; Ceil Leedom talking about the history of the house and of the Doctors who served Dayton (putting it all in historical context); and with Chelsea Laniado giving an overview of the installation of the Butterfly Garden as well as offering a demonstration on making herbal lip balm and how herbs were used in cosmetics. Thanks too to Barbara Laniado who organized the refreshements and talked about how the house was saved with the help of the Girl Scouts.

Travelling Exhibit 2008 and 2009 Mosquitoes and Mosquito Control--Did you know that in the early 1900s, there was an attempt to have the mosquito declared New Jersey's state bird? Or that New Jersey led the Nation in organizing and developing mosquito control organizations and techniques? This traveling exhibit and activities is geared to 3rd to 5th graders and can be used in the classroom or by scout troops. We are also working on a curriculum for high school students. For more information, call 732-329-3429. These efforts are funded by the Middlesex County Cultural and Heritage Commission.

Call 732-329-3429 for more information or e-mail info@daytonvillage.org.

Eagle Scout candidate Brian Del Guercio completed a Victorian Garden Room at the Slack-Carroll House in 2006! It became a part of the Grandma's Lotions and Potions Exhibit. Each year we replant the annuals and add to the perennials.
