Friends
of Middlesex County are concerned about and oppose
the proposed warehouse development on property owned by Matrix development.
The proposed warehouses are to be adjacent to the new Four Seasons
seniors housing complex. In addition, members note that there are
attempts to expand the warehouse district west of Route 130 along
Friendship Road to Haypress Road and behind the existing housing developments
of Wetherill, Debra Drive, and Friendship Road. The Friends of Middlesex
County are concerned about: |
|
- the increased
noise caused by truck backup alarms, the use of 'j' breaks, and
chronic idling of diesel engine cabs;
- health effects
to children and seniors (as well as other adults) caused by diesel
exhaust particles;
- increased
traffic in an already congested area;
- decline in
property values; and
- a negative
impact on quality of life;
- soil pollution;
- a negative
impact on wetlands (the wetlands the Township argued should be
protected so that Route 92 should not be built); and
- a negative
impact on drinking water.
