Longwood
Gardens is located on Route 1 in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, which
is south of Philadelphia and north of Wilmington, Delaware.
Longwood Gardens was created by industrialist Pierre S. du Pont
with 1,050 acres of gardens, woodlands, and meadows. It has 20 outdoor
gardens; 20 indoor gardens within 4 acres heated greenhouses. You
will find 11,000 different types of plants, spectacular fountains
(with light shows) and extensive educational programs.
The
Christmas show runs from November 22 to January 6, 2002 from 9 a.m.
to 9 p.m. The holiday exhibits have thousands
of brilliant poinsettias, fragrant flowers, glorious trees and exotic
plants on four acres of gardens inside Longwood’s glass conservatory.
They offer daily concerts, fountain shows, and evening light displays
add to the holiday magic.
The
South Brunswick Garden Club and the Dayton Village Citizens' Coalition
plan a day trip to Longwood Gardens on December 9th, leaving around
9:30 a.m. and returning around 5:30 p.m. If you'd like to join us,
