Leslie Stalker has been with the paper for 40 years and writes a special column as well as news items on events in the area.

Task: She was asked to profile the key leaders in mosquito control for 1944 and 1945. To identify the key players in mosquito control in the state and county and carry out interviews, seek background information. Then to write a profile of the people who are trying to safeguard the public from diseases and disease vectors.



Health

Al Waysparti: is a community events columnist. He keeps track of happenings in local communities and has a wide network of contacts throughout the county. He also is a radio broadcaster at the local radio station.

Assignment

You will answer questions that Pete Peterson posed to everyone at the first meeting. Then you will answer specific questions that you were assigned.


Research your area of responsibility. (Use Internet sources, library resources, and interviews)

Take notes on answering the questions posed; see if other questions should be asked (add these questions)

Write an article of 700 to 1000 words on your topic. Your first draft should include all references either as end notes or in the body of the text. Your final copy can put these as end notes to give to the Editor.

Measure your report against the rubric (evaluation chart) provided. Make any needed alterations to improve your report.
